Sylvia England McGovney died on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, at the Via Christi care facility in Wichita, where she had spent the prior month. She had lived in Pratt County for more than 85 years and was one of the last few who could claim a connection with the Cairo community going back to 1942.Sylvia was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on Dec. 16, 1921, to Max and Vivian Pearl Buckholz, but moved to Kansas when she was only 7.
